A federal jury Thursday found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each -- a total of $1.9 million -- for 24 songs.

Sadly the article doesn't include details on why the fine ended up being so high. I'm just curious for the justification other than the glorious tradition that has led to suing dead people.

I am trying to make sure I don't accidentally support these guys. I love this site which lets you see if they were involved in an album.

I think they must just shoot for the moon and the court brings the dollar amount down to something less heart-attack inducing. It's no different from what almost any lawyer does. 24 stolen is nowhere near worth $1.9 million.

Actually it says in the article that the price of the songs were 99 cents each.
